SAIS Care

Smart Appointment Intelligence System

SAIS Care helps a clinic keep its schedule full: it books appointments, predicts which ones are likely to be missed, and reminds patients on the channel they prefer.

Staff sign-in

A student project. SAIS Care is a graduate capstone at The George Washington University. It runs on demonstration data and test participants who agreed to take part. It does not provide medical care or advice.

What it does

Scheduling

Front desk, care coordinators and administrators book, reschedule and track appointments, with role-based access.

No-show risk

A logistic-regression model scores each upcoming appointment and shows the reasons behind the score.

Reminders

Reminders go by SMS, WhatsApp or email, as the patient prefers. Patients reply YES to confirm or STOP to opt out.

Waitlist

When a slot opens, patients on the waitlist can be offered it automatically.

How it is built

A React web app and a Python (FastAPI) API on Amazon Web Services: containers on ECS Fargate, a PostgreSQL database on RDS, CloudFront for the website, all defined with Terraform and deployed through GitHub Actions. Messaging uses Twilio (SMS, WhatsApp, voice) and SendGrid (email).

Messaging and privacy
